Job Description

Summary

Work collaboratively with physicians and other clinic staff to provide professional nursing care to patientsProvide patient and family health education and health assessment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Working within scope of license, develop and implement nursing plan of care for patientsCommunicate the plan of care to patients as prescribed by physician: test results, scheduling of specialized tests and treatment modalities, prescription drug instructions and other patient educationDocument treatment in medical record appropriately.

  • Using the nursing process, triage patient concerns via telephone and provide nursing adviceReceive phone calls relating to appointments, urgent care, inpatient admissions, prescription refills and test results in accordance with clinic protocols and coordinate proper disposition of each.  

  • Obtain, review, verify and/or complete health care forms related to home health care, referrals, medical equipment and other patient/physician needs as appropriateAssist with managed care authorization and complete insurance and medical forms for patients or assist patients in completing the forms.  

  • Help maintain patient flow and workflowWork collaboratively as a team member of the clinic staff to provide a high quality and efficient service to patients and clinicMaintain patient confidentiality.

  • Assist with clinical trials according to protocol, if .

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong leadership, team building and decision making capabilities.  

  • Has the ability to set priorities, identify and resolve problems and delegate effectively and efficiently.  

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills for managing workflow, patients, patient families, physicians and others under stressful conditions.  

  • Ability to assess and triage patients. Demonstrates reliability and maintains confidentiality.  

Qualifications

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.

Minimum Required Education:Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

Preferred Education:  Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. 

Preferred Experience:Previous clinic, doctor’s office or urgent care experience preferred.

Required Certification/Licensure(s):Current Wisconsin RN License.

Physical Requirements

Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously. 

Work Environment

Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment. 

Sensory Acuity

Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
