Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for Pre/Post in our New Free Standing Endoscopy Center. This is a Full Time, Day shift in Charlottesville, VA!

Schedule: Five 8 hour shifts within operating hours of 630AM to 430PM Monday to Friday. Varying start times.

No nights, weekends, or holidays!

This role will support our new outpatient Endoscopy unit opening January 2026! No Call Required. Training will be within the main hospital endoscopy unit.

Free Standing Endoscopy Center Pre/Post details:

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital’s Digestive Care Center’s board-certified gastroenterologists, including two Gastroenterology physicians and a colorectal surgeon, treat a variety of diseases affecting the gallbladder, liver, mouth, stomach, intestines, pancreas, colon, and esophagus. The new department will have 4 procedure rooms. NO call is required but is available for additional hours in the main hospital Endoscopy unit. The pre/post area is a 12-bay unit with only endoscopy patient populations. The pre/post RN can expect a nurse patient ratio of 1:3.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Education

• Degree in Registered Nursing required

• BSN or MSN Preferred

Certification/Licensure

• BLS within 90 days of hire

• ACLS within 6 months of hire

• Registered Nursing License

Experience

• 1 year of experience in Acute Nursing Care required.

• Experience in Pre/Post/PACU highly preferred.

• Candidates who have previous procedural/surgical experience preferred.

• Communication with patients and providers required
