Job Title: Registered NurseLocation: Aztec, New MexicoJob Type: ContractWork Model: 100% OnsiteContract Duration: July 27, 2026 – May 28, 2027Renewal Option: Up to 3 Additional Annual RenewalsSchedule: 37.5 Hours/Week | 7.5 Hours/Day | School Calendar ScheduleCoverage Area: 2 High Schools, 1 Middle School, 3 Elementary SchoolsClient is seeking qualified Registered Nurses to provide comprehensive school nursing services supporting both general education and special-needs students across the district. The district serves multiple school campuses and requires strong clinical nursing support, emergency response capabilities, student wellness management, and compliance with school healthcare regulations.The RN will support student wellness initiatives, medication administration, emergency response planning, health documentation, Medicaid compliance, and school health programs while maintaining compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, New Mexico PED, and Department of Health requirements.The ideal candidate will possess strong pediatric/school nursing experience, excellent communication skills, emergency response capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively within a school district environment.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Nursing Services

• Perform student health screenings and nursing assessments
• Provide referrals and follow-up care based on assessment findings
• Support students with IHPs, IEPs, and 504 plans
• Participate in student registration health record review
• Support home visit participation if required
• Supervise and delegate appropriate duties to health assistants and unlicensed personnel

Medication Administration & Emergency Response

• Administer medications and nursing procedures
• Maintain medication administration documentation
• Monitor AED equipment and emergency preparedness readiness
• Respond to student and staff medical emergencies
• Coordinate emergency transportation when required
• Maintain health room coverage during school hours

Student Wellness & Health Education

• Provide instruction and guidance regarding:
  • Hygiene
  • Communicable disease prevention
  • Puberty education
  • Student wellness initiatives
• Participate in district wellness programs and health functions

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain:
  • Health records
  • Immunization records
  • Medication logs
  • Medicaid documentation
  • SNAP system records
• Ensure FERPA and HIPAA compliance
• Complete Medicaid-related documentation and reporting
• Maintain active NPI number and Medicaid participation requirements

Regulatory & Administrative Responsibilities

• Comply with:
  • New Mexico PED guidelines
  • NM Department of Health standards
  • Board of Education policies
  • Federal and state healthcare regulations
• Participate in district policy implementation and health program administration
• Complete AMSD-required online training and onboarding activities

Must-Have Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) License – State of New Mexico
• PED (Public Education Department) Licensure/Credential
  • Pending licensure may be accepted
• Background verification and fingerprint clearance
• Strong computer and documentation skills
• Ability to comply with:
  • Medicaid requirements
  • FERPA regulations
  • HIPAA requirements
• Experience working with pediatric or school-aged populations
• Strong communication and emergency response skills
• Ability to work onsite within district schools

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior school nursing experience
