Registered Nurse - PCU

This is an exceptional opportunity to advance your nursing career in a fast-paced, rewarding environment that values your expertise and commitment.As a Registered Nurse in our PCU, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with conditions such as AFIB/RVR, DKA, HTN, COPD, ARF, post-heart catheterization, stroke (CVA/TIA), spinal surgeries, and more. You will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring timely interventions and optimal patient outcomes across a patient ratio of 1:3. Your responsibilities will encompass titratable medication administration, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, peritoneal dialysis, CSF drains, and EKG competencies, among others. You will support complex procedures and collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and support staff to maintain a safe and efficient unit.Required Skills:

• Valid and current RN license
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Experience with titratable IV medications including Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, Levophed (manager approval required for some)
• Proficiency in chest tube management, trach care, peritoneal dialysis, and lumbar drains (preferred)
• Ability to pass EKG competency assessment
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to adapt in a fast-moving environment and manage multiple priorities effectively

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience in stroke or neurological units
• Previous exposure to Meditech Expanse EMR system
• Knowledge of IV pumps and medication dispensing systems (Pyxis)
• Bilingual abilities advantageous but not required

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience
• First-time travel nurses must meet the 2-year stable employment criterion; prior permanent staff experience in acute care preferred
• Candidates who have been separated for at least one year from previous employment are eligible

Other Requirements:

• Reliable transportation and ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including every other weekend and holidays
• Professional appearance, including wearing designated scrubs (Pewter), badges visible at all times, and adherence to dress code
• Ability to pass any required compliance assessments, including MedSurg RN EKG exam
