Whether you're experienced in cardiac stepdown or medical-surgical patients, this role offers a collaborative and diverse environment, supporting your professional growth. You will be responsible for managing complex patient conditions, titrating cardiac drips, and providing critical support for patients recovering from surgeries, CVAs, and other acute conditions. • Minimum of 2 years RN experience in a PCU or stepdown unit, with cardiac experience preferred
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to orientation
• Proficiency in titrating cardiac fluids, insulin, and vasopressors (Esmolol, Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Labetolol, Levophed, Nipride, Nitro)
• Strong assessment skills and familiarity with chest tubes, tracheostomies, central lines, drains, and wound care
• Effective communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary environment
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (LVAD certification preferred for 2 West)

Nice to Have Skills:

• Advanced cardiac management skills, such as managing and pulling venous sheaths, TR Bands, temporary pacemakers
• Experience with Meditech Expanse EMR system and hospital equipment like Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Certification in LVAD management

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred
• At least 2 years of recent clinical experience in a similar high-acuity setting, including cardiac and medical stepdown care

Other Requirements:

• Possession of BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications; LVAD certification is a plus
• Ability to work a flexible schedule involving every other weekend, holidays, and 4-day/3-day work weeks
• Willingness to work in a diverse, traveler-friendly environment and possibly float to related units (e.g., Medical Stepdown, MedSurg)
• Must be separated from previous employment for at least one year if previously a permanent staff member
• No on-call responsibilities; work schedule includes weekend rotations and major holiday coverage
• Scrub color: Pewter; uniforms must be worn appropriately and badges visible at all times
