Job Description
POSITION: RN Surgical PCU (Vent Experience Required)
SCHEDULING DETAILS AND CHARTING
" Shift hours: 4x12s, 645p-715aUP TO 26 WEEKS AVAILABLE BY REQUEST
" Charting: EPIC experience required
" Weekend Requirement: May be EOW or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
" RTO, Block & Special Scheduling Requests: ALL requests must be included with the submission.
" Call off Policy: Facility is allowed to call off 1 shift per 2-weeks.
" Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract.
" Accept First-Time Travelers: Yes.
" Locals Accepted? Radius Rule: Yes, locals accepted. Refer to Submittal Instructions for radius rule criteria.
" Pending License Accepted: Yes, only if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state. Otherwise, submission must include an active Virginia State or Compact RN/LPN license.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
" ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
REQUIRED CLINICAL SKILLS
" Cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
" IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
" Ventilator care for chronic trach patients
" Medication administration including cardiac drips (no titration)
" Respiratory support: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, CPAP, and BiPAP
" Rapid Response and Code team activation
" Isolation precautions and telemetry settings across PCU, DOU, IMC, and stepdown units
UNIT DETAILS AND FLOATING
" Ratios: Typically 1:5. Staffing goal is 1:4.
" Functions as a stepdown from the General Surgical ICU, with bariatric specialty and backup to the trauma unit
" 2 beds for chronic trach patients (not ICU level); Oxygen Support: CPAP and BiPAP
" Equipment: Ortho equipment, chest tubes, surgical drains, trach, endo tool, PICC line, and MML
" IV Drips Managed: Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, Ketamine
" Remote telemetry (monitors remain on unit); tele sitting implemented to increase Patient Care Tech coverage
" Floating: Will be required to float within skillset
