2500 Sign On Bonus LPNPosition Highlights: NT4 Ortho-Urology Surgical UnitNumber of beds on unit: 41Patient population (age, diagnosis, specifics about unit): NT4 is 41- bed unit specializing in the care of acute ortho and urology surgical patients. We are DNV certified for our hip and knee replacement surgeries. Surgical patients on this unit includes limb trauma patients, as well low acuity medical patients. With Carle being a level trauma center most regional trauma patients will be admitted to this unit. Nurse to Patient ratio: 1:4-6North Tower 4 is a fast paced throughput unit that highly collaborates with physical and occupational therapists. We focus on being a team to provide the best and safest care to our community. Additionally resources for the unit include: a full-time educator, part-time educator, 2 nurse supervisors, a manager, and charge nurses. Frequent nursing skills/equipment used: Wound Vacs, JP drains, Buck’s tractions, external fixators, lift equipment, orthotic devices (boots, slings, walker, etc), chest tubes, Foley/IV/Mediport insertions, Central line care and lab draws, Nursing prioritization, IV pumps, PCA pumps, Feeding pumps, SCDs, Telemetry monitoring, Patient connectionWhen unit is full, LPN will work with RNs with highest acuity or will be paired with an RN who has a heavy patient load. When the UNL has patients, the LPN will be paired with the UNL to assist with the UNL patient load. LPN tasks may include oral meds, IV piggyback meds, trach care, dressing changes, documentation on assessments and care plans after the RN has completed the first assessment and initiated the care plan.Certifications: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR); Licensed Practical Nurse (Required), Work Experience:Charts assessments on assigned patients, given that an RN has charted the initial assessment.Charts on care plans, which the RN has opened. As needed will have RN open new care plans.Communicates with physicians/APPs to receive orders and coordinate care for patient.Complete trach care as needed.Insert and care for NG tube and feedings through NG tube.Care for and change ostomy.Passes all medications, hangs IV piggybacks and fluids, excluding IV Push meds Charts assessments on assigned patients, given that an RN has charted the initial assessment. Charts on care plans, which the RN has opened. As needed will have RN open new care plans Communicates with physicians/APPs to receive orders and coordinate care for patient.
