As the organization's primary export compliance expert, the officer manages regulatory risk, strengthens our compliance culture, and serves as the key liaison with BIS, OFAC, CBP, and other agencies. While the role sets strategy, policy, and risk posture, it also carries essential operational responsibilities. The officer will directly support daily compliance activities, including transaction reviews, shipment approvals, screening decisions, and coordination with logistics, sales, and trade operations. The position requires a leader who can operate effectively at both the strategic and tactical levels.

  • Oversee and execute restricted party screening (RPS) of customers, suppliers, and business partners using approved compliance tools; escalate red flags and document decisions appropriately.
  • Review international shipments for proper documentation, licensing, and destination controls; ensure AES/EEI filings are accurate and timely.

Sanctions, Export Controls & Supply Chain Due Diligence

  • Manage compliance with OFAC, EU, UN, and other multilateral sanctions programs; maintain up-to-date screening processes aligned with current designations.
  • Apply export controls to relevant products and transactions; advise on jurisdiction and classification questions.
  • Integrate supply chain due diligence practices into the compliance program, including monitoring for forced labor risks, conflict minerals, and other regulatory obligations tied to sourcing and imports.
  • Identify and assess dual-use and emerging technology risks across the product portfolio and advise business units accordingly.

Government Agency Engagement & Reporting

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for government agencies including BIS, OFAC, and CBP on inquiries, audits, and export related enforcement matters.
  • Prepare and submit voluntary self-disclosures, export declarations, license applications, and other required regulatory filings with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain complete, audit-ready export records in full compliance with U.S. recordkeeping requirements (15 CFR §762) and internal retention policies.
  • Manage relationships with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure alignment on export documentation standards and procedures.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Training

  • Partner with all business functions and leadership teams to embed export compliance into business processes and decision-making.
