Life Flight & Airlift NW InsurancePTOEIBEmployee Assistance ProgramLocal DiscountsJOB SUMMARYThis is a professional licensed Physical Therapy position which provides leadership of the Physical Therapy Department, supervision of assigned staff and direct physical therapy care to eligible patients.An employee in this position works closely with physical therapy staff, department and clinic managers, nursing staff, clinician staff, clinic lead physicians, administrative staff, and patients and their families.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITESAdministers physical therapy program including training and supervising hourly and contract staff.Develops therapy programs in accordance with the instructions of a physician through the use of heat, cold manual therapy, hydrotherapy, exercise, rest, and electricity; administers tens, electrical stimulation including iontophoresis, ultrasound including phonophoresis, intermittent pneumatic compression, taping, traction, and provide patient education and guidance on therapeutic exercises including active, passive assistive, resistive, range of motion, breathing, postural re-education, wheelchair and assistive devices assessment and education, balance re-education and training, and gait training.Supervises and administers treatment to convalescing patients including muscle testing, grading the strength and weakness of different muscles, massage and muscle reeducation, guided exercise for weakened muscles.Observes condition of patients during treatment and may modify the prescribed treatment if deemed potentially injurious to the health of the patient; consults with the physician to outline long range programs for a patient and reports progress or results.Supervises clinical practice of physical therapy students; demonstrates proper positioning methods and other techniques; teaches exercises to patient or patient's family for home treatment.Schedules patients for treatment with assistance of front office coordinator and rehab aide staff; prepares periodic patient progress reports; prepares detailed monthly reports.Responsible for the departments yearly budget.Orders supplies and equipment from appropriate vendors.Perform related duties as assigned by management.PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTSActively checks and responds to emails throughout the day.Completes all mandatory education within given time-frame.Maintains regulatory requirements.Reports to work on time and as scheduled.Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.Attends annual review and department in-services as scheduled.Attends at least 75% of staff meetings; reviews all monthly staff meeting minutes.Actively participates in the departments quality improvement (QI) activities.Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices and the employee handbook.Communicates the mission, vision and values of the organization as well as the focus of the department.Meets dress code standards for the department; appearance is neat and clean.All Ferry County Health employees are required to maintain confidentiality in accordance with organizational policy, state and federal regulations, including not but limited to, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONSEducation and/or Work Experience RequirementsGraduation from a School of Physical Therapy accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association required.Current licensure in Washington State required.BLS certification required.Five years of practical physical therapy experience required.Three years management experience in a Rehab Therapy department required.This is a safety sensitive position and subject to RCW 49.44.240(3)(g).OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIESLanguage SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, customers, and the general public.Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
