Job Description

Relight / Gas Service Functions

  • Relight residential and commercial gas services

  • Perform hot-changes and service restorations

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose gas system issues

  • Complete work orders and required documentation

  • Maintain Operator Qualifications (OQs), if applicable

Gas Plumbing Functions

  • Examine and test gas piping systems for safety and compliance

  • Install, repair, and modify natural gas piping

  • Relocate meter set assemblies

  • Join piping via mechanical couplings, fusion, or approved methods

  • Apply for and pull permits when required

  • Perform QA/QC tests and record measurements

    Qualifications

    Required

    • High School Diploma or equivalent

    • Minimum 6+ months hands-on experience in natural gas distribution or gas plumbing

    • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

    • Fluent English (written & spoken safety instructions)

    • Ability to pass:

      • Pre-employment drug screening

      • Background check

      • Medical fit-for-duty evaluation

    • Ability to obtain/maintain DOT Medical Card (if applicable)

    • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer service

      Preferred

      • 2+ years plumbing or gas utility experience

      • Experience with meter sets, regulators, and gas appliances

      • Knowledge of local/state plumbing & fuel gas codes

        Work Environment

        • Outdoor worksites in varying/extreme weather conditions

        • Repetitive physical activity including:

          • Lifting (up to 50 lbs)

          • Standing, kneeling, climbing, crouching

        • Work performed near active roadways and heavy equipment

        • Variable hours may be required based on operational demands

          Schedule & Expectations

          Four (4) 10-hour days per week Flexibility for extended hours when necessary Punctuality and reliability essential
