Job Description

Experienced Carpenter / Remodeler

TruBlue Western DuPage is looking for an experienced, dependable Carpenter / Remodeler to join our growing team. We specialize in residential remodeling, home repairs, and improvement projects throughout the western suburbs of Chicago.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can work independently, communicates professionally with customers, and has experience across multiple construction trades. The ideal candidate will have strong carpentry and remodeling skills along with basic electrical and plumbing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform residential remodeling and home improvement projects from start to finish.
  • Complete rough and finish carpentry, including framing, trim, doors, baseboards, crown molding, cabinets, and other carpentry work.
  • Remodel bathrooms, kitchens, basements, and other residential spaces.
  • Install tile, flooring, drywall, and cabinetry.
  • Perform drywall installation, patching, finishing, and minor painting preparation.
  • Complete basic plumbing work, such as replacing faucets, toilets, sinks, garbage disposals, supply lines, and minor plumbing repairs.
  • Complete basic electrical work within the limits allowed by applicable licensing and code requirements, such as replacing switches, outlets, light fixtures, ceiling fans, and exhaust fans.
  • Troubleshoot common residential repair and maintenance issues.
  • Read measurements, layouts, plans, and job scopes accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and other team members.
  • Document job progress and completed work with photos.
  • Identify additional work or unforeseen conditions and communicate them before proceeding.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of professional carpentry, remodeling, construction, or home improvement experience preferred.
  • Strong experience in residential remodeling and finish carpentry.
  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Ability to independently complete projects and solve problems in the field.
  • Comfortable working on a variety of projects rather than performing only one specialized trade.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and standard construction equipment safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Professional appearance and good customer-service skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift and carry construction materials and equipment as required.

What We're Looking For

We are especially interested in a well-rounded remodeler who can walk into a bathroom, kitchen, basement, or general home repair project and confidently handle most aspects of the work. You do not need to be a licensed electrician or plumber, but you should have practical experience with common residential plumbing and electrical tasks that fall within the legally permitted scope of the position.

The right person will be dependable, honest, organized, and capable of working independently without constant supervision. We value quality over rushing through jobs and want someone who takes pride in leaving behind clean, professional work.

What We Offer

  • Consistent residential remodeling and repair work.
  • Variety of projects and opportunities to use multiple skills.
  • Support from an established and growing home-services company.
  • Professional work environment focused on quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Competitive compensation based on experience and capabilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Experience: Residential remodeling or carpentry experience strongly preferred.

If you are an experienced carpenter or remodeler who enjoys variety, solving problems, and completing high-quality work for homeowners, we would like to hear from you.
