Job Description

Welcome to The Freelance Firm!

We are a national network of experienced, high-level, freelance attorneys and paralegals who provide remote, on-demand support for both short-term and long-term legal projects for our client law firms.

Due to increased demand, we are now interviewing for a qualified, experienced, and dedicated Family Law Attorney to provide high-level legal research and drafting support.

This is a fully remote position with an anticipated workload of approximately 0–5 hours per week. While the client is based in New Mexico, New Mexico licensure is not required. A California-licensed attorney is preferred, but attorneys licensed in other U.S. jurisdictions with strong family law experience are encouraged to apply.

Attorney Responsibilities:

Conduct substantive legal research on complex family law issues
Draft high-quality motions, memoranda, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents
Assist with legal analysis and case strategy
Review case files and supporting documentation
Provide back-end litigation support to the firm's attorneys
Deliver accurate, well-reasoned work product within established deadlines
Collaborate with the firm's legal team on family law matters

Attorney Requirements:

Licensed and in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
California licensure preferred, but not required
Minimum of 5+ years of family law experience
Exceptional legal research and persuasive legal writing skills
Extensive experience drafting substantive family law pleadings and motions
Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently meet deadlines
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
FastCase experience is a plus, but not required

Our Attorney pay rate starts at $80/hour.
