Replacement professor in Biology

The Department of Biology the University of Ottawa invites applications to fill one replacement professor position in Biology, to begin July 1, 2026.

Title of the position: Replacement professor

Duties: The functions of a member of the academic staff include, in varying proportions, teaching activities (six courses per year) and academic service activities. The candidate will be expected to teach in both official languages.

Terms: A 3-year contract, non-renewable

Wage: Salary scales for Assistant Professors start at $99,377 (as of May 1, 2025).

Skills requirements:

  • Education: Ph.D. or equivalent in Biology. Strong teaching experience is essential in cellular /Molecular Biology. Research experience in molecular biology is an asset. The successful candidate must be able to teach in English and French, the two official languages of the University, upon taking up the position.
  • Work experience:

  • An up-to-date curriculum vitae. (Please indicate any work stoppage, such as parental or sick leave, that would have had an impact on your career. We will take this into account during the selection process.)
  • A teaching record that demonstrates excellence in teaching in the biological sciences and the application of this experience in major courses from Years 1 to 3.
  • A statement of research interests and how equity, diversity and inclusion principles will be incorporated into teaching to research group members (one to two pages).
  • The names of three contact persons for letters of recommendation.
