- Synthesize and purify new bioorthogonal tools using established methodologies- Design and fabricate customized experimental system hardware, including CAD and 3D printing- Help develop new chemical methods for bioorthogonal labeling.- Cell culture: maintain cell lines in culture and prepare samples for imaging experiments- Label antibodies and cells with temporospatial tags for imaging experiments. - Assist postdoctoral fellows with fluorescence microscopy image analysis

Summary: Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing and preparing samples, conducting experiments, and recording and analyzing data.
A position is available for a research technician in the laboratory of Prof. Jonathan Carlson at the MGH Center for Systems Biology. The ideal candidate should have an undergraduate degree in biological engineering or chemical sciences, with at least six months of laboratory experience in interdisciplinary research projects that span both physical and biomedical sciences, and an intent to pursue further research training, preferably as part of a combined MD-PhD program. Interest in developing new techniques for in vivo chemistry is essential; familiarity with organic chemistry, biological chemistry, fluorescence microscopy, 3D printing, and optical imaging processing is a priority.
