THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION FUNDED UNTIL JUNE 30, 2028
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Technician 2 performs research in molecular and cell biology in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: OR a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal four (4) years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Attention to detail for record keeping.
- Ability to perform general techniques on the molecular and cellular level.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.
- Performs biomedical research tasks.
- Makes a variety of constructs (including Cas9/CRISPR knockouts, mutant signaling components).
- Conducts experiments to satisfy research objectives.
- Grows glioma cancer cells and tests them for their sensitivity to radiation and DNA imaging agents.
- Evaluates effects on various properties of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo
- Communicates with the PI effectively and timely regularly to determine the needs of the laboratory.
- Orders all laboratory supplies.
- Maintains the lab records of research activities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
