Job Description
Position Summary:
Provides care for residents, such as assistance with toileting, transferring, bathing, feeding, etcetera. Performs housekeeping and laundry tasks and kitchen tasks as assigned. Administers medical treatments and prescribed/over-the-counter medications, as ordered by a physician. Medications and treatments are administered according to company policies and procedures. Ensure residents are treated with dignity and respect and receive quality care according to individualized care plans.
Responsibilities:
- Assists residents with bathing, hair care, mouth care, dressing, toileting, etcetera.
- Assists residents with ambulation, which includes reminding and supporting.
- Assists residents with turning and repositioning when needed.
- Observes and reports resident behavior and condition changes to supervisor.
- Assists and reminds residents to participate in facility activities.
- Assists with all aspects of kitchen and dining room tasks associated with resident meals, including some prep work when necessary, serving, cleaning up, setting tables, etcetera.
- Performs general housekeeping/laundry tasks and related duties.
- Responsible for reviewing medication records on a daily basis.
- Administers prescribed medications as ordered.
- Attends scheduled staff meetings and in-services.
- Compliant with attendance policy.
- Displays a caring, respectful attitude when addressing residents, family members and co-workers.
Qualifications/General Requirements:
- Experience working with and caring for the elderly population preferred.
- CNA certification not necessary.
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Position reports to Resident Care Director or Administrator.
- Must be able to participate in one and two-person transfers/lifts and change resident position to accommodate resident mobility needs.
- Must be able to administer medications and perform medical treatments as ordered by physician.
