POSITION SUMMARY:

At Snow Mountain Ranch, people are at the heart of everything we do, and the Resident Manager plays a key role in ensuring staff feel supported, welcomed, and set up for success. This position supports the work of the YMCA of the Rockies of Snow Mountain Ranch. Serving more than 50,000 guests each year, our campus thrives because of the people who make it happen, and this role helps create an environment where staff are empowered, connected, and inspired.

The Resident Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining welcoming, organized, and supportive staff housing and community events and experiences. This includes ensuring the cleanliness, functionality, and readiness of all housing facilities while fostering a strong sense of community through staff engagement, events, and daily support.

Through overseeing Resident Assistants, coordinating housing operations, and supporting staff events, this position ensures a consistent, positive staff experience from arrival through departure. This is more than a housing role, it is an opportunity to build community, strengthen connections, and carry forward the YMCA mission in everyday interactions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead, train, and hold Resident Assistants and staff accountable for completing daily responsibilities accurately and on time while fostering a positive, engaging environment through compassionate and enthusiastic leadership
  • Maintain a consistent and visible presence in staff housing to monitor conditions, support staff, and proactively address issues before they escalate
  • Coordinate and manage the on-call schedule, ensuring coverage, timely response, proper documentation, and follow-through to resolution
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management, including setting expectations, providing feedback, and addressing performance concerns
  • Ensure consistent adherence to all housing and operational processes, including documentation, communication, and timelines, while maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with staff groups to support engagement and participation
  • Utilize HR systems to track housing, incidents, and communication logs, maintaining accurate documentation and reports
  • Respond to staff requests within 24 hours with the intent to approve when feasible, providing alternatives and clear rationale when requests cannot be met
  • Oversee all staff housing operations, including assignments, pre-arrival communication, move-ins, move-outs, and transitions, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and a positive experience
  • Review and assign housing daily, balancing operational needs, staff preferences, and ADA considerations
  • Ensure all housing areas, rooms, and community spaces are clean, safe, organized, and maintained to established standards, including overall appearance of common areas and outdoor spaces
  • Enforce structured cleaning cycles (daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual) to ensure consistency and accountability
  • Conduct and oversee room inspections to ensure timely turnover, cleanliness, and readiness for incoming staff
  • Perform minor maintenance and coordinate with Building & Grounds for larger or specialized repairs while partnering with Housekeeping to ensure supply needs are met
  • Monitor, track, and follow through on all maintenance requests with clear communication, prioritization, and documented completion
  • Maintain accurate housing records, inventory logs, and inspection/cleaning documentation
  • Support HR leadership with year-round housing coordination through leasing partners, ensuring availability and operational readiness
  • Complete and submit quarterly safety audits
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate staff engagement events and programs that support community, well-being, and retention
  • Maintain a rolling event calendar with at least two months of planned, scheduled, and communicated activities
  • Ensure all events are clearly organized and communicated with expectations and sign-up processes
  • Coordinate all event logistics, including space, materials, staffing, setup, cleanup, transportation, drivers, and compliance with YMCA vehicle policies
  • Oversee vehicle scheduling, usage, cleanliness, return, and accountability
  • Foster an inclusive and engaging housing community through consistent presence and intentional programming
  • Maintain a visible and approachable presence within housing and at events
  • Partner with local organizations and businesses to expand staff opportunities and experiences
  • Communicate housing updates and events through multiple platforms, including developing and distributing a monthly newsletter
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA policies, housing guidelines, and safety standards
  • Respond to incidents, concerns, and emergencies with sound judgment and professionalism
  • Maintain on-call availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and work a flexible schedule as needed
  • Report policy violations or concerns promptly to HR leadership and handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism
  • Support departmental budget tracking and accountability and perform effectively in high-pressure environments
  • Requires a valid driver's license and the ability to drive as needed to perform essential job duties.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion
  • Comfortable working independently while supporting a team environment
  • Experience in housing, hospitality, event planning or staff operations preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a cooperative, solution focused, and supportive work environment.
  • Ability to operate office equipment: computer, telephone, copier, and scanner.
  • Must possess a valid, USA state issued driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.
  • Ability to comfortably speak in front of groups.
  • Required to live on grounds
  • Bilingual skills are a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands and work environment outlined below are intended to provide an understanding of what is needed to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. This position offers a mix of indoor and outdoor work in a beautiful mountain setting, with changing weather conditions throughout the year. The role includes both administrative and hands-on responsibilities, and we support in navigating these expectations by encouraging flexibility, safe work practices, and a team-oriented approach to daily tasks.

  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to snow, rain, wind, and fluctuating temperatures.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, reach, and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely navigate uneven terrain and hard surfaces for prolonged periods of time.
  • Regular movement throughout the workday, including getting up and down from a desk or workstation.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Comfortable performing physically demanding tasks as part of daily responsibilities.
  • Work environment may range from moderate to high noise levels depending on location and activity.
  • Ability to work around cleaning equipment, power tools, and cleaning chemicals while following safety protocols.
