Job Summary:
Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Residential Advisor for Campus Engagement plays a vital role in
enhancing student life through dynamic programming and student-centered support within the residential
environment. This live-in role would be perfect for a student in a master's program in a related field! This
position focuses on fostering a vibrant residential community by assisting with the planning and execution of
residential procedures and operations. Additionally, the advisor contributes to residential staff efforts
and participates in a week-long crisis response rotation, helping to create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive
campus environment. The compensation package includes on campus housing and a $14,000 yearly stipend.
Essential Job Functions:
Residence Life & Operational Coverage
- Serve as a live-in staff member within the residence halls.
- Serve on a week-long crisis response rotation, responding to student concerns and incidents.
- Support residence hall community-building efforts in collaboration with Resident Assistants.
- Serve as an after-hours point of contact for housing-related concerns.
Campus Engagement & Programming
● Support and advise the Student Activities Board (SAB) in planning and executing campus-wide
events and traditions.
● Assist with evening and weekend programming to increase student engagement.
● Collaborate with the Director of Campus Life on major programs, homecoming activities, and
late-night initiatives.
● Provide on-site event support and logistical coordination as assigned.
Student Support & Crisis Response
- Respond to student behavioral, safety, and wellness concerns using a student-centered approach.
- Assist professional staff with documentation, referrals, and follow-up related to incidents.
- Uphold university policies and contribute to a safe residential environment.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
● Bachelor's degree required, active pursuit of a Master's preferred in Student Affairs, Higher
Education, or a related field.
● 2+ years of experience in student programming, leadership development, or housing and residence
life preferred.
● Strong organizational and communication skills.

commitment, and experience in achieving goals and pursuing excellence is critical. Strong oral and written
presentation skills. Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team. Excellence in organization,
decision-making, problem-solving and creating a collaborative environment. Ability to manage multiple projects
simultaneously. Must be able to read, write and speak fluently in English.
● Knowledge of Student activities and engagement best practices strongly preferred.
● Student work and leadership experience on a collegiate campus setting within a private institution or
college within Higher Education, preferred
● Knowledge of the trends in engagement and student attractions and partnership building for Higher
Education. Event planning experience is a plus.
● Ability to produce training materials in a variety of formats using the latest industry tools.
● Knowledge of modern computing, networking and communications systems and skill in use of technology
applications.
● Ability to adapt and flexibly serving various university constituent groups is key.
● Familiarity with copyright and intellectual property standards for course development.
● Knowledge of ADA requirements in collegiate facilities.
● Effective communication both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Writes and presents
information in a clear and concise way. Interprets and understands written information and is able to
listen attentively to verbal and non-verbal cues that lead to a deeper understanding. Must be fluent in
English.
● Be innovative, strategic, and leverage technology to assist with building, developing, and facilitating a
successful residential education program
● Work cooperatively with others and demonstrates professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous
behavior when interacting with others. Capable of interacting pleasantly and positively with other to meet
student, faculty, and staff expectations, and provide follow up with customers.
● Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines
and initiate follow-up action as necessary. Attention to detail is essential.
● Ability to explain complex technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of technology experience
● Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with
the demands of the worksite.
● Ability to perform duties in a diverse work environment.
Physical Demands
Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours/day. Some lifting (up to 25 pounds occasionally), bending, andcarrying.
The employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and to use hands and fingers to handle or feel.
