Job Description

About the Role

A well-established property restoration company in Eugene, Oregon is hiring a Restoration Estimator to scope and write insurance estimates for water, fire, smoke, mold, and storm losses. You'll inspect damaged properties, build accurate Xactimate estimates for mitigation and repairs, and work with adjusters to get scopes and supplements approved so projects start on time and stay profitable. If you know your line items, can hold your ground with an adjuster, and take pride in a clean, defensible estimate, this is a long-term career move.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect residential and commercial losses on site to assess water, fire, smoke, mold, and storm damage and determine the scope of mitigation and repair work
  • Document every job with photos, moisture readings, measurements, and sketches, and write a clear scope of loss
  • Write detailed, accurate Xactimate estimates (including Xactimate Sketch floor plans) for mitigation and reconstruction, covering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
  • Communicate and negotiate scopes, pricing, and estimates with insurance adjusters, TPAs, property owners, and property managers through to approval
  • Identify and write supplements and change orders for additional damage, working with project managers as the job progresses
  • Follow carrier, TPA, and company estimating guidelines, and keep job files and documentation current (DASH, MICA, Encircle, or similar)
  • Hand off approved jobs to the production team with a clear scope, and coordinate with mitigation and reconstruction crews so estimates match field conditions
  • Track estimates against job budgets and protect margin on every job
  • Build and maintain relationships with adjusters and other referral sources
  • Stay current on building codes, construction methods, and IICRC standards

Required Qualifications and Credentials

  • 2+ years of restoration, mitigation, or reconstruction estimating experience (insurance restoration experience preferred)
  • Proficiency in Xactimate is required, including sketches, line items, and supplements
  • Working knowledge of the insurance claims process, including working with adjusters and TPAs
  • Strong understanding of water mitigation, structural drying, and construction methods and materials; able to read blueprints and drawings
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple estimates at once
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • A valid driver's license is required; driving to job sites is an essential function of the role, and the driving record must meet company insurance requirements.
  • IICRC certification (WRT, ASD, FSRT, or AMRT) required
  • Xactimate Level 1 or 2 certification required
  • Symbility experience a plus

Why Join
