Job Description

Gillette Children's is seeking a Supervisor for Billing staff in our Revenue Cycle department. This is a Full-Time, remote position. The selected candidate must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin and have the ability to work onsite in St. Paul, MN as needed.

Purpose of position

Serves as a supervisor for the Revenue Cycle Billing staff by closely working with assigned team members and leadership of the department to coordinate work flow, monitor account activity, review worklists for activity and completion, work to reduce days in Accounts Receivable, and facilitate training and education of Patient Account Representative team members. Provides direction and supervision of staff related to managing the workload, processes and policies to ensure compliance with billing and reimbursement rules and regulations.  Helps resolve payer problems and concerns, responds to Physician/Provider requests and Gillette department requests in order to ensure customer service is optimal and to the highest standard for our patients and care staff.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $30.42 to $45.62, with a median wage of $38.02/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees. Core Responsibilities and Duties

Work Management

  • Supervises the Revenue Cycle Patient Account Representatives billing staff
  • Schedules and performs monthly team meetings
  • Monitors the daily workflow of all billing work queues
  • Completes and communicates annual performance reviews as well as routine coaching and corrective action when needed.
  • Develops annual goals and routinely monitors achievements for direct reports
  • Promotes a positive work environment.

Active Engagement

  • Engages with others in a collaborative dynamic to promote positive change.
  • Promotes and encourages employee involvement to promote ideal outcome and employee engagement.
  • Autonomous Practice – Exercises independent judgment that influences service and demonstrates understanding of potential implications for others.

Staff Management and Development

  • Establishes and communicates clear expectations for staff. Provides regular, timely and appropriate feedback. Holds staff accountable for performance. Addresses performance issues promptly and corrects poor performance.
  • Ensure staff understand expectations and have role clarity
  • Enables employees to grow and succeed through coaching, feedback, instruction, and encouragement. Conducts early or on-time performance reviews with all staff. Gives honest feedback in a healthy way.
  • Operates in a visible and accessible manner with staff. Promotes staff engagement.
  • Promotes staff participation in decision making, development of innovative processes and participation on teams/committees.
  • Outline training and knowledge sharing opportunities that will evolve and advance the team’s skills.
  • Holds and facilitates staff meetings and 1:1 with all direct reports.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3 years medical billing experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Above average written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence and ability to lead and influence others
  • Proven problem resolution skills and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Experience working with third party payor rules and regulations

Preferred

  • 5 years medical billing experience
  • Oracle/Cerner experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Previous experience with change management and process improvement
  • Critical thinking skills, see the big picture and formulate plans to achieve goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated leadership skills: emotional intelligence, building team, developing employees, innovative process framework, challenge team members, create an environment of idea-sharing and open dialogue, cross department collaboration
