Job Description

Job Summary

As a Rigging Associate, you will be responsible for performing splicing, swaging, and providing limited customer service, along with other duties as assigned. This position requires obtaining certification from cordage vendors for splicing various types of cordage to ensure the delivery of top-quality products. Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform splicing and swaging for customer orders to ensure high-quality rigging solutions.

• Assist in the installation of rigging products as needed.

• Understand and demonstrate the proper use of all equipment and tools utilized in both the field and the shop.

• Ensure that rigging staff exemplify the highest standards of our brand and the exceptional service we provide.

• Drive sales through effective customer engagement, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge.

• Produce quotes, process orders, and manage production and payments for rigging products and services.

• Educate store staff about the services and capabilities of the rigging shop to enhance team performance.

• Protect crew members and customers by maintaining a safe and clean shop environment.

• Ensure adherence to all safety rules and standards while working in the shop and the field.

• Maintain the stability and reputation of the shop by complying with all legal requirements.

• Be available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

• Assist with fulfilling cut-length orders for in-store and omnichannel customers.

• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

• Ability to thrive in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software applications.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• General knowledge of sailing and boats, with the ability to read measurements in both imperial and metric systems.

Physical Requirements:

• Continuous standing and walking throughout the retail space.

• Ability to wear and communicate through a headset continuously.

• Ability to operate a motor vehicle

• Frequent climbing, bending, stooping, crawling and twisting.

• Occasionally operate equipment, including forklifts.

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking

• Manual dexterity to evaluate, install, and modify equipment

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds to shoulder height unassisted frequently.

Other Requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years old

• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

• Willing to submit to a criminal background check

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and DMV checks per the West Marine Driver Fleet Safety Program

The starting pay rate for this position is $22.00 per hour.
