Ratios: max 1 RN:4-5 pts on days, 1 RN:5 pts on nightsRequired certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALSCommon diagnoses/Types of patients: CHF, Diabetic complications and diabetic wounds, pneumonia (bacterial and viral), COPD exacerbations, hip fractures, COVID-19. Post-op TURPs, hip and knee replacements, cholecystectomy, appendectomyExperience or 'Must have' skills: General medical-surgical, may have general pediatric patients as wellAre RNs required to titrate drips? InfrequentlyCommon titratable &/or set rate drips : Heparin, BumexCharge Nurse/House Supervisor: Both on day and night shiftsAre there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: 1-3 CNAs on day shift, 1 on night shiftRT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): Cpap, bipap, high flowIs there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? Tele monitored by CCU staff, tele board visible to med-surg staffShifts & Scheduling: Nights 1900-0730 or Days 0700-1930Weekend Requirement: every otherHoliday Requirement: negotiableIs there a call or standby requirement? if placed on low census, expected to report within 30 minutes of call.Floating Requirements: RNs not fully cross-trained to other departments are expected to assist if floating as "helping hands". May elect to fully crosstrain to other departments.Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy blue scrubsUnit/Department specific orientation: 3-6 shifts, longer if neededAdditional Notes: Great staffing ratios!
