Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Ortho Trauma Specialty Unit in Plano, TX. This 36-bed unit cares for a diverse population of orthopedic and trauma patients requiring specialized post-surgical and non-surgical care.

The ideal candidate will have strong med-surg skills, experience with orthopedic and trauma patients, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to patients with orthopedic, trauma, and post-surgical conditions.

• Administer medications and IV infusions including Heparin and Protonix drips.

• Monitor telemetry and respond appropriately to cardiac rhythm changes.

• Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and case management teams to coordinate care.

• Maintain accurate documentation in Meditech EMR.

• Participate in daily huddles and maintain consistent communication with the interdisciplinary team.

• Float as needed to other Medical-Surgical units within the facility.

Qualifications

License:

• Current Texas RN License or Compact State License

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of recent Med-Surg experience required

• Ortho and/or trauma experience preferred

Certifications (AHA only):

• BLS

• ACLS

Education:

• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing program
