RN - Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Position Overview

• Department: Surgery, OR
• Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, shifts start at 6:00am. You can work either 3/12s, 4/10s, or 5/8s. Holiday and evenings call are required - 2 weekdays and 1 weekend day per month.
• Work Location: UAB St. Vincent‘s Birmingham

OR experience is strongly preferred. What You Will DoDeliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

What You Will NeedLicensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
