Job Description
Position Summary:
The RN Clinic, Psychiatry provides specialized nursing support for patients receiving outpatient behavioral health and psychiatric services. This role conducts focused patient assessments, assists with medication management processes, and delivers education to support stabilization, coping strategies, and long-term wellness. Working collaboratively with psychiatric providers, therapists, and interdisciplinary care partners, the RN helps coordinate care, support timely follow-up, and monitor patient progress. The position functions within a supportive, team-based behavioral health environment where communication, compassion, and collaboration are essential. By maintaining clinical accuracy, supporting crisis-reduction strategies, and adhering to Trinity Health standards, the RN Clinic, Psychiatry contributes to safe, patient-centered behavioral health care and positive treatment outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform psychiatric nursing assessments, gather behavioral health histories, and support providers in developing and implementing care plans.
- Assist with medication administration processes, monitoring for side effects, and documenting patient responses in compliance with clinical guidelines.
- Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, follow-up appointments, and communication with behavioral health and community resources to support continuity of care.
- Educate patients and families on medication regimens, symptom management, safety planning, and available behavioral health supports.
- Collaborate with psychiatric providers, therapists, and care coordinators to respond to changes in patient condition, support crisis intervention strategies, and ensure safe transitions across services.
- Participate in quality initiatives, maintain competency in point-of-care testing, and complete required training to support effective psychiatric clinical practice.
