The RN will prepare patients for surgery, assist surgeons during procedures, maintain sterile technique, develop and implement nursing care plans, collaborate with surgical teams, and provide appropriate post-operative care and education.Key Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care to surgical patients in recovery, procedure, and operating rooms.
• Stock operating rooms with sterile surgical equipment, linens, and supplies.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans for surgical patients.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including cleaning and disinfecting areas to be operated on.
• Assist surgeons during surgical procedures.
• Maintain appropriate sterile techniques when handling instruments and equipment before, during, and after surgery.
• Collaborate with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals regarding patient medications and post-surgical care.
• Maintain and update patient files and medical records.
• Assist with ordering, maintenance, and safe storage of surgical equipment and supplies.
• Provide post-surgery care instructions and answer patient questions.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license, or compact RN license if applicable to Rhode Island.
• BLS certification – AHA required.
• Minimum 1–2 years of recent OB/Perioperative OR experience.
• Surgical/Perioperative experience specifically involving:
  • C-sections
  • D&C
  • PPTL
  • D&E
• Flu vaccination required.
• COVID-19 vaccination required – no exemptions.
