Summary
Department: Stepdown Intermediate Care
Shift Timings: 18:45- 07:15 Hours, Monday to Friday 3 days 12 hours shift.
Per Week: 36 Hours.
- Unit Capacity: 36 Beds Population Served: Cardiac and Neuro Stepdown: Cardiac bedside monitoring, Cardiac drips, TR bands, Post heart caths, Stroke/Neuro patients, BIPAP overflows Ages of Patients Served: Young Adult through Late Adult (18 - 60+) Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:6 Core Staffing Plan: Variable staffing grid to include: Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Interns (NIs). An RN assumes full responsibility for the patients on each team.
- Staffing Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Certification National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test
- Implements and monitors patient care plans.
- Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
- Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
