Position: Road & Bridge Temporary Summer Help

Starting Salary: $14.31 an hour

Work Hours: 40 hours a week

Closing Date: Posting will close June 2,2026 or when position is filled, whichever comes first.

*Candidates will be reviewed on a continuous basis. As a result, the closing date may be adjusted depending on the need to review additional applicants.

General Purpose:

Perform a variety of duties as needed to help with Roads, Bridges, other Public Works facilities throughout Bonneville County.

Supervision Received:

Work under the general supervision of the Road Manager, Assistant Road Manager, or Operator for job specific assignments.

Supervision Exercised:

None.

Essential Functions:

Perform general laborer duties including the operation of hand tools and other light duty equipment as directed by supervisors. May drive rollers and light duty vehicles within department of labor requirements. Clean and perform basic maintenance on vehicles and road construction equipment. Follow directions for driving and working in all areas of the county, including gravel/dirt roads. May mix chemicals and load spray equipment. Perform other job-related duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Educations and Experience:

None.

2. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to perform basic math operations, operate a computer or tablet, and work

independently without supervision or as part of a team.

3. Special Qualifications:

Must possess a valid Idaho driver's license.

Must own a sturdy pair of hiking boots.

4. Work Environment:

Work is performed outdoors and may include adverse weather conditions and hazards involving the use of light duty vehicles, rollers, sprayers, hoses and possibly tractor mowing equipment. Tasks require variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular exertion, related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, and reaching. Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts or in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate equipment. Essential functions require talking, hearing, and seeing. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, and critical thinking.

The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Seasonal workers under the age of 17 will not operate vehicles on public roads and seasonal workers under the age of 18 will not operate a vehicle weighing in excess of 6000 pounds gross vehicle weight as part of their employment in compliance with Child Labor Provisions for Nonagricultural Occupations under the Fair Labor Standards Act from the Child Labor Bulletin 101, WE1330 REV 11/16.
