Job Title: Road Mechanic

Location: Various job sites and company locations as needed

About Us: At Morris-Shea Bridge Company Inc., we rely on well-maintained equipment to support our operations and keep projects moving. We are seeking a Road Mechanic to help service, maintain, repair, rebuild, and prepare the machinery used across our job sites and company locations.

What You'll Do:

As the Road Mechanic, you will play a key role in maintaining and repairing machinery used across our job sites and company locations. Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Equipment Maintenance: Service, maintain, and repair our machines and heavy equipment used in company operations, including drilling rigs, cranes, concrete pumps, fuel tanks, and other support machinery at company job sites and other locations as needed.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and work through problems to return equipment to proper working conditions at company job sites and any other assigned locations.
  • Rebuilds and Refurbishment: Assist with tearing down, rebuilding, refurbishing, and restoring machinery and components throughout the full lifecycle of the equipment.
  • Equipment Preparation: Inspect, test, clean, and prepare equipment for use, transport, and continued operation across company job sites and locations.
  • Travel Support: Travel to company job sites, yards, and other work locations as needed to inspect equipment, perform repairs, and support operations.
  • Support Operations: Work alongside mechanics and operations personnel to support maintenance, repairs, and equipment readiness at company job sites, yards, and other work locations as needed.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine service and preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend the life of company equipment.
  • Repair Documentation: Keep accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and work performed on machinery and equipment.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including substance-free workplace requirements and environmental regulations.
  • Physical & Environmental: Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting 50+ lbs., working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and travel as needed to support company operations.

Who You Are:

  • Qualifications: Substantial mechanical experience with heavy equipment, including strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, is required. Ability to diagnose problems, perform repairs with limited supervision, read schematics, and travel extensively to company job sites, yards, and other work locations as needed is required. OSHA 10 certification is a plus.
  • Team-Oriented: Able to work well with mechanics and operations personnel while supporting equipment needs across company job sites and other locations.
  • Dependable: Can be relied upon to travel as needed, respond to equipment issues, and help keep company machinery operational across multiple job sites and locations.
  • Detail Oriented: Able to notice mechanical issues, follow repair processes carefully, and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Organized: Helps keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, orderly, and ready for use across assigned job sites and locations.
