Job Description
The Montana Department of Transportation is recruiting for a Road Profile Analyst. Do you enjoy travel? Would you like to explore the state of Montana and get paid for it? MDT has a perfect opportunity for you! We are seeking a new team member with an aptitude for technology to operate our state-of-the-art Data Collection Vehicles. These vehicles collect pavement distress data and imagery that is used by the Department for financial and engineering decisions. The Road Profile Analyst I is responsible for organizing and conducting statewide data collection and analysis projects to determine the overall quality of roadways. Extensive, overnight travel is required during the summer months. Responsibilities include operating state-of-the-art equipment and software to collect road condition data. Other duties include data quality control, equipment maintenance, equipment calibration, and a variety of continuous improvement projects as assigned. The position reports to the Pavement Management Supervisor (#40080) and serves as a lead worker.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer/Electronic Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
This position requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in computers, project management, highway design, construction, and/or materials.
This position requires a valid Montana Driver's License, or a valid Driver's License from another state and the ability to obtain a Montana Driver's License within 30 days of hire. Maintaining a valid Montana Driver's License and insurability is a condition of employment.
Alternative combinations of related work experience and education may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of mathematics, statistics, physical sciences, and electronics technology.
Knowledge of electronic (computer) and mechanical system maintenance and repair.
Knowledge of mapping and navigation of roads and highways in the state of Montana.
Skills in operating specialized equipment and software, including GIS-based information systems for the data collection.
Skills in oral communication to effectively work in a team environment.
Ability to operate motor vehicles for extended periods of time, including operating the vehicle with precision steering and speed control to produce the highest level of data quality.
Ability to work in multi-task environment.
