Road Service Technician

Turn Your Diesel Expertise Into Serious Earning Potential

Are you an experienced diesel technician who enjoys solving problems, working independently, and getting drivers back on the road?

We’re looking for a skilled and dependable Road Service Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position working on trucks, trailers, motor coaches, and select heavy equipment. From emergency roadside calls to complex diesel repairs, no two days are exactly the same.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technician who takes pride in their work, can think on their feet, and wants the opportunity to earn more based on performance.

Compensation:

  • $35–$40 per hour
  • Competitive commission structure
  • Earning potential up to $120,000 per year
  • Standard 40-hour workweek
  • Weekend and on-call availability required

What You’ll Do

As a Road Service Technician, you’ll respond to service calls and diagnose, repair, and service commercial diesel vehicles and equipment. You’ll work closely with our Dispatch, Parts, and Management teams to provide customers with fast, professional, high-quality service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Perform emergency roadside diagnostics, repairs, and service on diesel vehicles and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems quickly and accurately.
  • Perform brake, electrical, and tire repairs, including tire removal and installation.
  • Complete engine and powertrain repairs, ranging from minor repairs to more advanced work.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Diagnose and repair A/C and emissions systems.
  • Obtain necessary parts when required and coordinate with Parts personnel.
  • Test-drive trucks and equipment when necessary to verify repairs.
  • Follow all company and industry safety procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain clear communication with Dispatchers, Parts Counter Specialists, customers, and Management.
  • Process customer credit card payments when required.
  • Handle customer concerns calmly, professionally, and efficiently.
  • Submit receipts, invoices, service documentation, and other paperwork promptly.
  • Keep your assigned company service truck clean, organized, stocked, and ready for the next call.
  • Immediately report service-truck maintenance or equipment issues to Management.
  • Follow company accident and incident procedures when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist with additional duties as business needs require.

What We’re Looking For

We want technicians who are reliable, resourceful, safety-conscious, and confident working in the field.

Qualified candidates should have:

  • A valid driver’s license.
  • A current DOT Medical Card.
  • Strong experience using mechanical and electrical power tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of computers, diagnostic equipment, and related electronics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently while staying connected with Dispatch and Management.
  • The ability to remain professional and solution-focused during roadside emergencies and customer interactions.
  • Weekend and on-call availability.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Diesel engine repair training and/or certification preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial vehicles, electrical systems, and gas and diesel engine systems.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel-powered trucks and equipment.
  • Proficiency with diesel engine diagnostic software and equipment.
  • Previous roadside or mobile repair experience is highly valued.

Why Join Our Team?

This isn't a position where you'll spend every day doing the same repair in the same bay. You'll have the opportunity to work independently, solve challenging problems, help customers when they need it most, and be rewarded for your performance.

In addition to strong earning potential, we offer a competitive benefits package that includes:

  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • Life & Disability Insurance
  • AFLAC
  • 401(k)
  • Paid Time Off
  • Paid Holidays
  • Competitive Commission Opportunities
  • Earning Potential Up to $140,000 Annually

Ready to Get to Work?

If you know diesel equipment, enjoy troubleshooting, and want a position where your skills and productivity can directly impact your earnings, we want to hear from you.
