This role supports program development, part and fixture optimization, design improvement recommendations, and robotic and automation operations training. The requirements below represent the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to successfully perform this role. Other duties may be assigned.Key ResponsibilitiesRobotic Welding Programmer IFocus: Execution under guidance, support, and learningCreates and edits basic robotic and automation programs using established standardsReads and interprets drawings and work instructions to support program creationAssists with tooling and fixture setup and basic testingMakes minor mechanical or program adjustments under guidanceVerifies engineering information and flags discrepancies to managerNotifies manager of quality concerns, delays, or equipment issuesCollaborates with team members to support daily production needsFollows all safety guidelines and standard operating proceduresRemains flexible and shifts tasks based on manufacturing needsWorks within assigned deadlines to support production timelinesParticipates in continuous improvement discussionsPerforms other duties as assignedRobotic Welding Programmer IIFocus: Process ownership and independent problem solvingIndependently creates, maintains, and improves robotic and automation programsAnalyzes drawings, work instructions, and engineering data to optimize programsDesigns, tests, and implements tooling and fixtures to support production and qualityMakes mechanical and program adjustments to meet quantity and quality requirementsCollaborates with maintenance to ensure proper and timely equipment upkeepIdentifies process issues and implements corrective actionsSuggests design improvements or alternative automation methodsGuides part selection and supports transition from manual to robotic operationsCommunicates effectively with cross functional teams regarding issues and solutionsContributes ideas for continuous workflow and process improvementSupports training of operators and technicians on robotic cell operationEnsures work meets safety, quality, and production standardsRobotic Welding Programmer IIIFocus: Strategy, leadership, and complex problem solvingLeads development, optimization, and standardization of robotic and automation programsProvides technical direction for complex automation and integration challengesDrives design improvements and alternative methods in collaboration with engineeringLeads tooling and fixture design strategy to improve efficiency, quality, and uptimeOversees transition of processes from manual to robotic operationPartners closely with maintenance and engineering to improve equipment reliabilityIdentifies systemic issues and leads root cause analysis and long term corrective actionsMentors and trains technicians in robotic cell operation and best practicesReviews and validates engineering information for manufacturabilitySets priorities and adjusts work to meet changing manufacturing demandsChampions safety, continuous improvement, and best in class automation practicesServes as escalation point for production, quality, and automation issuesProfessional Experience and QualificationsMinimum RequirementsWelding certificate, technical degree, or equivalent experienceExperience with robotic weld cell operationRobotic weld programming experience, ABB preferredExperience with robotic and or automated equipment programmingFamiliarity with PLC programming, ABB preferredExperience in tank manufacturing, heavy fabrication, sheet metal, forming, cut to length, and or press brake operationsAutoCAD, Inventor, or other 3D CAD experience is a plusInterpersonal, Leadership, and Technical SkillsStrong computer skills including Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to manage multiple prioritiesStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational skillsStrong attendance and dependabilityReading comprehension and applied math skillsCritical thinking and logical troubleshooting abilityEffective time managementStrong mechanical aptitude with high attention to accuracyAbility to work independently when neededPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
