• Education Requirements: Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (or an equivalent program) from an accredited institution.
• Certifications Requirements:
  • CRT/RRT Credential: Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (or CRT acceptable per facility needs).
  • BLS Certification: Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.
  • ACLS Certification: Current AHA ACLS certification.
• Experience Requirements:
  • Clinical Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care respiratory therapy experience in a hospital setting.
  • Ventilation & Therapies: Demonstrated experience managing ventilators and performing respiratory treatments.
  • ABG/Blood Gases: Experience performing and interpreting blood gases in accordance with unit protocols.
• Other Requirements:
  • Core Skills Required: Ability to perform Updraft Therapy, blood gases, BIPAP/CPAP, ventilators, and EKGs.
  • Scheduling Flexibility: Ability to work 12-hour shifts with the possibility of occasional 8-hour shifts, including potential occasional night shifts or weekend coverage for emergencies.
  • EMR Proficiency: Comfort working in hospital EMR systems; HMS/MedHost CRT or RRT acceptable per facility requirements.

- Provide respiratory care to patients in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols, including BIPAP/CPAP and ventilator management.

- Execute Updraft Therapy and other ordered treatments, ensuring appropriate delivery, patient tolerance, and documentation.

- Document blood gas results and respiratory interventions, communicating clinically relevant trends to the care team promptly.

- Perform EKGs and assist with cardiopulmonary monitoring workflows as required by unit procedures and patient needs.

- Collaborate with nurses and physicians during rotating 36/48 day schedules, including occasional night shifts or weekend coverage for emergency needs, to maintain continuity of care.
