Job Description

In this Sales Consulting role, you will execute against the Wealth Management Sales strategy, including building awareness and adoption of Signature Wealth, as well as driving product sales in the region. This includes Managed Account Sales and Net Flows and also representing both Structured Products and Alternative Investments, as needed.The territory includes Northern States, Atlantic, and Southern States Regions within AAG only (Ameriprise Advisor Group). Qualified candidate may be located within the territory or in Minneapolis.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive sales in territory by developing & maintaining relationships with new and existing advisors through 1:1 calls, client events, training/education, group presentations, etc. Will influence advisor choice through the use of a consultative process and other techniques/ systems (ex. Quality Sales Call, etc.). Works with leader to research and manage territory to execute on sales plan. Build and maintain relationships with internal/external partners (e.g. WMS, Marketing, IRG, field leadership, etc.). 

  • Research and communicate industry changes and trends that may impact company or product positioning, both with internal and external customers.

  • Travel within territory to conduct in person 1:1 Advisor sales calls, conduct client events, and to deliver group presentations, including continuing education/training. Represent WMS at National, Regional and Industry related meetings, conferences, and virtual events.

  • Manage and develop systems to create efficiencies (scheduling/rotations, meeting preparation & follow-up, recognizing advisor sales, budget management, etc.). - Use tools/software, including proprietary programs, to research advisor business and identify opportunities to offer solutions. Analyze reports to increase understanding of advisor business and identify sales trends; leverage the information to prepare for face-to-face or virtual sales meetings. Complete required coursework in order to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations and licenses. 

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience in financial services industry in a selling role

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Series 7 required upon hire

  • Series 63 & 65 (or 66), or the ability to acquire within 90 days per license/registration

  • Ability to travel (~25-35%) to support team and client needs and live within territory 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In depth product and investment knowledge. Ability to quickly assimilate and quickly learn proprietary products

  • Deep subject matter expertise on selling all Advisory Products with a focus on the Signature Wealth Platform

  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated proficiency in general business disciplines and software applications (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.). Experience with CRM (e.g. Sales Force)

  • Proficiency in demonstrating a consultative sales process

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to operate and manage comfortably and effectively in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment

  • Proven ability to influence, motivate and inspire others

  • CFP®, ChFC®, CRPC®, CEBS, RIPC or similar retirement industry designations.

  • Excellent understanding of various facets of the Ameriprise organization; including insight into various business units and the field organization.

Remote Work

This position is remote.  Any expectations for travel or in-person collaboration will be discussed during the hiring process.  This position is eligible for remote work in these locations: ME, VT, NH, MA, NY, PA, CT, NJ, MD, VA, WV, OH, IN, MI, KY, NC, SC, VA, LA, MS, AL, GA, FL or Minneapolis, MN.

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $150,000 - $200,000 / year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that supports all aspects of your health and well-being, including but not limited to vacation time, sick time, 401(k), and health, dental and life insurances.
