Job Description
Position Summary:The Safety and Behavioral Services Coordinator collaborates with the Vice President of Education Services and Principal to oversee, manage, and supervise the school's behavior program, student safety, and overall supervision. This role is responsible for implementing and coordinating the Behavior Management System, ensuring school-wide safety, and supervising the Safety Team. Hours are 7:30am-3:30pm.
Primary Duties & Essential Functions:
- Oversee day-to-day school operations and assist with administrative tasks.
- Supervise, support, and assign duties to the Safety Team.
- Maintain knowledge of Justice Center and State Education Department regulations and collaborate with the Principal to manage investigations.
- Support the Principal in student-related matters, including communication with families and home schools regarding disciplinary issues.
- Implement and coordinate the School-Wide Behavior Management Plan, report and share student behavior data with Day Program and Residential Program Staff.
- Provide supervision and guidance during student behavior management situations and assist staff with crisis interventions.
- Lead emergency drills and ensure staff are trained in all emergency procedures and policies.
- Serve as a liaison with emergency first responders and provide support during medical or safety emergencies within the school building.
- Participate in key meetings, including Treatment Teams, Service Plan Reviews, CSE Meetings, and Student Suspension re-entry meetings.
- Provide supervision in various areas of the school, such as hallways, cafeteria, bathrooms, courtyard, and during field trips.
- Enforce the behavior management program, ensuring student safety in accordance with the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct.
- Assist with crisis intervention training for school staff and provide ongoing guidance in behavioral
Required Education, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Experience working with at-risk youth and/or youth with special education needs.
- Associate degree preferred in education, counseling, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of successful experience working with at-risk youth and/or students with Special Education needs.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Abilities and Working Conditions:
- Valid NYS driver's license required.
- Ability to work a standard 40-hour work week.
- Ability to perform restraints and maintain TCI trainer certification.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with strong communication abilities.
- Ability to problem-solve, mediate, negotiate, and manage conflict effectively.
- Ability to multitask, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability to respond positively to changing priorities.
- Willingness to work with and respond to the needs of a culturally diverse student population.
- Promote and support strength-based, culturally competent practices.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
- Must be able to stand and run for moderate periods of time.
Compensation:$60,000-$70,000 annually based on experience.
