Safety Coordinator

Somerset Welding and Steel (J&J Truck Bodies) is seeking a Safety Coordinator who will plan, direct, and implement organization safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment in our fabrication facilities

Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.

• Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
• Observe employee behaviors, reinforcing positive behaviors and taking corrective action when necessary.
• Conducts weekly toolbox meetings.
• Assists in the production of OSHA written programs, administers, and performs training such as bloodborne pathogen exposure, confined space entry initially upon hire, and annually thereafter.
• Administers new hire and annual or required refresher training for topics such as emergency planning and response, fall protection, fire extinguisher, hearing conservation, lockout / tag out, personal protective equipment, respiratory protection annual fit test.
• Provide hands on training for forklift and aerial lift.
• Maintains the hazard communication program and performs training when necessary.
• Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices and other required topics.
• Conducts incident investigations and produces reports.
• Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university in safety management preferred; or one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is desired.
