Job Description

SCOPE OF WORK

The Safety Engineer will develop and implement procedures, guidelines, and best practices to promote andensure the health, safety, and well-being of our jobsites, innovation facilities, and offices.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Uses Gaylor Values as tools to carry out all job responsibilitiesMaintains confidentiality of all informationInspects jobsites and communicates with project and safety teams to identify safety risks and concernsProvides expert guidance on best practices for identifying and reducing exposure to dangerous

conditions

Adopts a proactive approach to providing a safe working environment; provides training and

guidance to employees via training, toolbox talks, newsletter articles and other forms of writtenand verbal communication

Develops and implements a system to report, monitor, and correct safety problemsPrepares, composes, and initiates correspondence, memoranda, presentation materials, and

reports

Organizes and prioritizes workload to meet deadlinesMaintains appropriate records, files, documentation, etcPerforms other related duties as assignedAbility to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.Good verbal and communication skillsBilingual in Spanish preferred.Ability to develop and work as a member of a team.Ability to teach safety related classes on projects or classroom or via TEAMS.Ability to foster a positive and productive safety culture while promoting cooperation and improve moral throughout the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for working with the Safety Team in the planning and execution of the Gaylor safety programand assisting operational units to recognize and mitigate hazards on jobsites, offices and facilities. Supportand maintain a safety culture focused on accident and injury prevention.WORKING CONDITIONS

May require working in all elements (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.) depending on job location and/or time of yearMust be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (port-o-lets)Must have required hand tools at all times while at work site (waist tool belts can weigh up to 30 lbs.)Must be able to work scheduled hours, 40 hours per week.Must be able to work in noisy environmentsMust be able to remain calm in times of heightened emotional situationsMust work well with others as a member of a team to complete tasks

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to wear personnel protective equipment (i.e., hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high visibility vest, safety harness, etc.) when requiredAbility to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overheadRepetitive use of arms, hands, and fingersPossess good vision/hearing (normal or corrected)Ability to make transition from designated employee parking areas to construction areas and be able to gain access to all levels of building/structure, even if only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but deemed safe for useAbility to work while constantly moving on one's feetAbility to reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balanceAbility to work while sitting or standing for long periodsMust be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times

MINIMUM EDUCATION

Minimum of high school graduate, holder of G.E.D., or equivalent studies/experience.OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid/AED credentials
