Safety Environmental Supervisor

Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a Safety Environmental Supervisor to support a government contract based in El Paso, TX.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Safety Environmental Supervisor oversees environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, occupational health, and safety programs. Functions as the environmental representative responsible for oversight of waste minimization, waste reduction, hazardous waste management, pollution prevention, permit/regulatory compliance, and may include approval authority for all hazardous material requests.

Other duties include:

• Acts as a representative for the Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH) program.
• Reviews and provide guidance for the Hazardous Materials Reduction Prioritization Process and ozone depleting substances (ODS). Reviews ESOH initiatives and projects.
• Conducts safety and environmental inspections, audits, and surveys.  Reviews and provide guidance for corrective actions for all inspections, audits, and surveys.
• Assists in the development of environmental policies and directives. Understands and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental laws.
• Conducts opportunity assessments identifying hazardous waste materials reduction prioritization opportunities. Analyze and justify the money needed for projects.
• Supports the company Environmental, Health and Safety Training Program. May perform classroom training on safety, hazardous waste management, pollution prevention, industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental protection, and related subjects.
• Oversee the site environmental and safety program. Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
• Promotes company values, policies, and standards of conduct.
• Ensures professional coordination with Operations and subcontractors.
• Performs other qualified duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Six (6) years recent experience in a safety or environmental field Excellent ability to read and analyze complex contract documents and then extract necessary information.
• Completion of a military course or equivalent on hazardous waste management or industrial hygiene is desired.
• Advanced knowledge of industrial safety programs and OSHA and EPA regulations (such as RCRA, SDWA, CWA, or CAA).
• Excellent communication, effective leadership and customer service skills.
• Industrial hygiene experience and OSHA and EPA training experience preferred.
• Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple compliance tasks.
• Ability to use and integrate computer systems into daily duties.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, or an associated discipline preferred; two (2) years of experience in related field may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.

WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS

• Must be able to work dayshift, nightshift, or weekend duty as required.
• Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 75 pounds
• Work may be outdoors, desert weather conditions of extreme heat and humidity.
• May be exposed to extreme noise.
• May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, or vehicles
