Job Description
Position Summary:
The Safety Manager is responsible for the transformation, development, implementation, and maintaining workplace health and safety programs within a food manufacturing environment. This role leads compliance with all regulatory requirements while fostering a strong safety culture that protects employees, supports operational efficiency, and aligns with food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve site-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a best-in-class working environment for all employees.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations (e.g., OSHA) as well as company standards.
- Lead risk assessments, hazard analyses, and job safety evaluations across all departments.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and facility walkthroughs to identify and mitigate risks.
- Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries; determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Partner with food safety and quality teams to ensure alignment between safety protocols and food manufacturing standards (e.g., GMPs, HACCP).
- Facilitate safety training programs, including onboarding, refresher training, and leadership coaching.
- Track, analyze, and report safety metrics (TRIR, LTIR, near-miss reporting) to leadership.
- Lead emergency preparedness efforts, including evacuation plans, drills, and crisis response.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and HR to reinforce safe behaviors and continuous improvement.
