Safety Manager | Asbestos Abatement Project Location: Washington, D.C. Start Date: August 15, 2026 Duration: Approximately 8 Months Employment Type: 1099 ContractorCompensation Hourly Rate: $55-$62 per hour️ Per Diem: $160, subject to project eligibility Pay Frequency: WeeklyAt 40 hours per week, the hourly rate provides approximately $2,200-$2,480 in weekly earnings, plus eligible per diem.Schedule Hours: 40+ hours per week Schedule: Monday-Friday Shift: 7:00 AM-3:00 PM Additional hours may be required based on project needs.Project OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Bilingual Safety Manager to provide full-time onsite safety leadership for a long-term asbestos abatement project in Washington, D.C.This position requires a highly visible, hands-on safety professional who is comfortable working directly with field crews and project leadership in an active abatement environment. The Safety Manager will oversee daily safety activities involving asbestos removal, fall protection, scaffolding, and confined-space operations.The ideal candidate can identify hazards before they become incidents, communicate effectively with a bilingual workforce, and confidently enforce project safety requirements while maintaining a professional and solutions-focused approach.Key Responsibilities Maintain a consistent safety presence throughout active work areas Monitor asbestos abatement activities and verify compliance with established procedures Conduct daily jobsite inspections, hazard assessments, and safety observations Review fall protection systems, scaffolding operations, and confined-space activities Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and field-level coaching Verify that workers are following required PPE, respiratory protection, and exposure-control procedures Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate immediate corrective action Maintain accurate inspection reports, safety documentation, and corrective-action records Coordinate with project management, supervisors, subcontractors, and field personnel Support incident prevention, investigation, and follow-up activities Enforce applicable project requirements and EM 385 safety standards
Required Qualifications Current EM 385 training or certification is required Bilingual communication skills are required Previous safety experience supporting asbestos abatement operations Strong working knowledge of fall protection requirements Experience monitoring or inspecting scaffolding operations Experience with permit-required confined-space work Ability to communicate safety expectations clearly to field personnel and project leadership Strong documentation, reporting, and hazard-recognition skills Ability to work onsite in Washington, D.C. for the full project duration Availability to begin work on or around August 15, 2026Why This Opportunity Stands Out Competitive rate of $55-$62 per hour $160 per diem for eligible contractors Approximately eight months of consistent project work Predictable Monday-Friday day-shift schedule Opportunity to lead safety on a specialized, high-risk abatement project
