Job Description

About the RoleThe Safety Specialist supports the development, coordination, and improvement of company safety and health programs. This role works closely with the Safety Manager to promote a proactive safety culture through inspections, training, documentation, and employee engagement. The position helps ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and maintain a safe, injury‑free workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Support implementation and continuous improvement of safety and health programs.Conduct safety inspections, job hazard analyses, and recommend corrective actions.Assist in developing safety initiatives and improvement plans.Facilitate employee safety training on policies, procedures, and regulatory topics.Help update safety policies and maintain compliance documentation.Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.Manage OSHA injury/illness logs, internal reporting, and Workers' Compensation documentation.Coordinate with TPA, insurance carriers, and occupational health providers on claims.Track claim status, restrictions, lost-time cases, and related costs.Maintain the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) program.Support workers' compensation program administration.Coordinate Hepatitis B vaccination and post-exposure testing programs.Engage employees in safety initiatives and support a proactive safety culture.Report on safety performance and program effectiveness.Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Associate's degree in Occupational Safety, EHS, Industrial Hygiene, Risk Management, or related field.2-3 years of experience in occupational or industrial safety, preferably in a regulated manufacturing environment.Knowledge of OSHA standards, hazard identification, and incident investigation.Experience conducting inspections, risk assessments, and safety training.Familiarity with safety documentation, Workers' Compensation processes, and SDS management.Valid driver's license and ability to meet insurability requirements.Ability to work in both office and production environments; occasional evenings/weekends required.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and OSHA recordkeeping.OSHA 30‑Hour General Industry certification.First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification.Professional certifications (CSP, ASP, CIH).Strong communication, problem‑solving, and data analysis skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital recordkeeping.Highly organized, self‑motivated, and effective in fast‑paced environments.Ability to collaborate across departments and influence safety engagement.
