Their teams operate in complex, heavy industrial environments where safety is central to everything we do. We are looking for an experienced Safety Specialist to join their team in Maysville, KY and serve as a trusted safety partner to our field teams, site leadership, and customers.

Job Details

We are seeking a hands-on Safety Specialist to support a heavy civil/environmental operation in Maysville, KY.

This is not a desk-based EHS position. You will spend significant time in the field working alongside site leadership and crews operating heavy equipment in construction, excavation, landfill, and environmental operations.

You will be responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, identifying and mitigating hazards, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company standards, conducting inspections and audits, investigating incidents, coordinating training, and maintaining accurate safety reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

Conduct field safety inspections, observations, and auditsIdentify unsafe behaviors and conditions and drive corrective actions through completionPerform Job Hazard Analyses and develop appropriate mitigation strategiesLead comprehensive incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysisDevelop and maintain site-specific safety reports, documentation, and trackingLead daily safety meetings with field teamsCoordinate new-hire orientations and required safety trainingSupport OSHA 10, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, First Aid/CPR, and other task-specific trainingMaintain required site safety records and inspection documentationPartner with corporate safety leadership on site-specific Safety and Health PlansWork directly with customer safety representatives and participate in customer meetingsSupport workers' compensation case management and return-to-work coordinationInspect facilities, heavy equipment, and work areas to identify potential hazardsProvide weekly reporting on safety activities, observations, trends, and corrective actionsWhat We're Looking ForBachelor's degree required5+ years of safety, EHS, or compliance experienceOSHA 510 certificationStrong knowledge of OSHA 1926 construction standardsExperience working around heavy equipment and excavation activitiesConstruction or heavy civil experience strongly preferredExperience in waste, landfill, ash management, environmental remediation, utilities, mining, or similar environments is a plusStrong computer skills with the ability to navigate reporting and documentation systemsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to communicate effectively with field employees, leadership, and customersHigh level of integrity, accountability, and dependabilityCSP, ASP, OHST, or CHST certification is a plusValid driver's licenseSchedule & Work Environment

This position operates on a 4-days-on / 4-days-off schedule. Shift lengths vary based on site activity and may range from approximately 8–16 hours. During peak summer and winter periods, days typically average around 12 hours.

This is an active field environment involving construction and heavy equipment operations. Candidates should be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, around dust, noise, changing weather conditions, and active job sites.

The role requires the ability to walk and stand for extended periods, climb, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds. PPE will be provided.

A reliable personal vehicle is required due to travel between active work areas and landfill/cleanup sites. A $725 monthly vehicle allowance is provided.
