Job Description
Summary:
- Location: Durham, NC
- Work Mode: Local
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 5X8 M-F, 8AM-4:30PM
Responsibilities:
- Collect, segregate, and manage hazardous chemical wastes generated throughout the company, including clinics and research laboratories.
- Manage hazardous pharmaceutical wastes, radiological, and universal wastes.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and standards by OSHA, EPA, DOT, NRC, RCRA.
- Communicate with supervisor regarding policies and procedures for assuring compliance.
- Lift 50 lbs., manipulate 400 lb. drums, and be physically able to wear respiratory protection.
- Work in various environments, including those with "immediately dangerous to life and health" (IDLH) atmospheres, requiring protective clothing and equipment.
Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Occupational Safety or Environmental Health and Safety or related field (Highly preferred).
- Valid Driver's license and ability to operate company-owned vehicle.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in environmental science, EHS, or safety.
- Self-starter, ambitious, and abides by safety principles.
- DOT RCRA certified.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to hazardous material management.
- Basic knowledge of chemistry and related sciences.
- Ability to segregate various waste substances for shipping or treatment.
- Proficiency in utilizing computer technology to access data, maintain records, and generate reports.
- Functional oral and written communication skills.
