Job Description

SCR Medical Transportation LLC

Essential Functions

Conduct and document required classroom training for drivers, aides, and monitors. Conduct and document required behind-the-wheel training for drivers. Assist in driver recruitment process. Conduct and/or participate in monthly safety meetings. Conduct and document semi-annual behind-the-wheel driver evaluations. Evaluates the performance of school bus drivers and applicants to ensure that established skill levels are met and are in compliance with state certification requirements Participate in the development and administration of customer safety awareness programs, and company-sponsored safety programs. Review driver records from the state for violations and inform Contract Manager if corrective action is needed. Coordinate with safety and training supervisor to notify drivers of upcoming licenses and/or certificate expiration dates. Review VCRs and perform administrative safety duties as needed. Assist management by reporting all vehicle accidents, work-related injuries and incidents. Conveys a positive image of the company and the school district. Demonstrates safe and responsible driving habits including prompt and regular attendance. Attends safety meetings and trainings relating to state and district requirements for the purpose of presenting and/or acquiring information. Completes logs, forms, and reports associated with job function. Other duties as assigned by management

Job Competencies

High school diploma or GED Must complete state certification program or the DS Bus Lines certification for school bus driver instructor. Equivalent work experience as a Trainer can be substituted as appropriate where allowed. Commercial driving experience required; 2 years of bus driver experienced required for BTW training. Thorough knowledge of Company regulations and state and federal laws relating to student transportation. Appropriate vehicle class license, current medical and school bus driver's certificate. Ability to interface and communicate with all types of individuals. Preventable motor vehicle accident record would be considered Acceptable driving performance for the past 12 months. Must be knowledgeable of adult training techniques. Computer literacy, preferably with MS Office Products, excellent interpersonal skills, well developed written and verbal communication skills. Basic math skills, Multi-tasking and time and priority management skills to balance conflicting demands related to customer care and routing.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle, or feel; The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must have the ability to perform bus evacuations in an emergency. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus.

Physical Demands

Be able to tolerate heat. Most school buses are not air conditioned and get very hot in the summer months. Able to work in an environment with limited to moderate level of supervision and an atmosphere of informal autonomy: This requires an adaptability to variable pressures and paces in any given work day. Able to perform multiple task simultaneously while concentrating on safety of children, as well as their physical, mental, or emotional needs. Be able to tolerate diesel fuel fumes, odors, and moderate dust conditions

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Work evenings or weekends as required.

Required Education and Experience

Working knowledge of two-way radio equipment operation and dispatching devices. Appropriate dispatching policies and practices, or ability to learn within a reasonable amount of time. Relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, and Company standards, policies, and procedure related to transportation processes, or ability to learn within a reasonable amount of time. Geographic region, school locations, District bus routes, and student transporting equipment, or ability to learn within a reasonable amount of time. Ability to become familiar with District streets and roads, read maps, and learn about transportation equipment and student needs. Drive a school bus and other district vehicles safely and efficiently, as required.
