Position Summary
The Sales & Customer Relations Manager is responsible for developing new business opportunities while building and maintaining strong customer relationships across Chlorum's product portfolio. This position leads commercial growth efforts for hydrochloric acid (HCl), caustic soda, bleach, and other products while serving as a trusted advisor to customers and supporting the day-to-day commercial operations of a growing manufacturing business.
As part of a growing organization, this role combines strategic sales responsibilities with hands-on commercial support, including sales order management, customer account administration, and invoice reconciliation activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sales strategies to grow hydrochloric acid (HCl), caustic soda, bleach, and related product sales.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new customer opportunities across target markets.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers through regular communication and business reviews.
- Prepare quotations, pricing proposals, and customer presentations.
- Negotiate commercial agreements in partnership with executive leadership.
- Coordinate customer onboarding, contracts, pricing, and account setup.
- Enter customer sales orders and maintain accurate sales documentation within SAP.
- Assist with invoice reconciliation, pricing questions, and customer account resolution.
- Coordinate closely with Logistics, Operations, and Finance to ensure customer commitments are achieved.
- Monitor market conditions, customer demand, and competitive activity.
- Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline reporting, and commercial performance updates.
- Represent Chlorum at customer meetings, industry events, and trade organizations.
- Perform other commercial and sales responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Five or more years of business development, account management, or industrial sales experience.
- Proven ability to develop new business and manage strategic customer relationships.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the willingness to perform administrative and operational responsibilities in a growing organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently.
Preferred
- Experience selling hydrochloric acid, caustic soda, bleach, chlor-alkali products, or industrial chemicals.
- Existing relationships within water treatment, industrial manufacturing, chemical distribution, food processing, or related markets.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
- Experience supporting commercial contracts, pricing, and order administration.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment.
- Ability to travel up to 40–50% based on customer and business needs.
Working Conditions
This position is primarily based in the Skokie office with regular travel to customer locations, industry meetings, and company facilities. As part of a growing organization, this role combines strategic sales responsibilities with hands-on commercial support and requires flexibility to meet customer and business needs.
