Position Overview

As the Sanitation Manager, you’ll lead the sanitation team, ensuring all equipment, tools, and facility areas meet FDA, USDA, and company standards. You’ll coordinate daily inspections, oversee startup/shutdown processes, and guarantee seamless transitions into production. This role is critical to maintaining food safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the overnight sanitation team to meet compliance and production readiness goals
• Develop and execute sanitation schedules and procedures to support daily startup requirements
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP, and corporate policies
• Verify pre-operational inspections and drive corrective actions when needed
• Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory compliance
• Oversee third-shift operations, including equipment startup/shutdown
• Partner with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to ensure smooth shift transitions
• Troubleshoot operational issues and provide timely resolutions
• Conduct annual performance appraisals and develop direct reports through coaching and training
• Manage CAPA processes and lead continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree  (Food Science, Microbiology, or related discipline a plus)
• 5+ years of leadership experience in sanitation and operations within food manufacturing/processing
• Strong knowledge of sanitation chemicals, methods, and regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, GMP, SSOP, HACCP)
• Experience managing cross-functional teams and overseeing sanitation+ production operations
• Skilled in root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto)
• Understanding of kosher, halal, organic, and non-GMO documentation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, databases, and sanitation record-keeping systems
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work overnight shift hours
