About the Opportunity
As a Scale Operator/Weighmaster, you'll play an important role in our daily operations by accurately weighing, grading, and recording incoming and outgoing scrap metal materials. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers and assist with material verification, sorting, and disposal proceduresWeigh and ticket incoming/outgoing loads using scale systems and softwareCreate accurate and compliant transaction recordsGrade incoming scrap materials and monitor load qualityDirect vehicle and foot traffic safely on and off the scaleProcess inspection tickets and assist with inventory controlMaintain and monitor radiation detection systemsCommunicate with yard staff regarding incoming and outgoing materialsReport discrepancies or quality concerns to managementFollow site safety procedures and industry regulations
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalentMinimum 1 year of experience in customer serviceStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsExcellent communication and customer service abilitiesComfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environmentBasic computer proficiencyAbility to work independently and as part of a teamProblem-solving and critical-thinking skillsWillingness to learn and follow operational procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Scrap metal, recycling, or industrial experienceScale software experience
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to lift up to 20 lbsAbility to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasksComfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditionsReliable transportation required - no exceptionsAble to work weekendsPPE required; work environment may include loud noise levels
