If you are a Scenic Artist who thrives in a hands-on, outdoor environment and takes pride in creating high-quality 3D themed elements, keep reading. COST of Wisconsin's opportunity allows you to combine artistic craftsmanship with real-world construction, working directly on job sites. You will sculpt, paint, fabricate, and finish immersive environments. If you love seeing your work come to life at scale-and don't mind getting your hands dirty-this role is for you. This is a traveling role throughout the U.S.
COST of Wisconsin, Inc. creates award-winning themed construction for zoos, theme parks, casinos, resorts, museums, botanical gardens, aquariums, and other one-of-a-kind destinations.
What You'll Do
- Create and install 3D themed elements including sculptures, rockwork, textures, and specialty finishes
- Apply specialty paint finishes, coatings, and artistic renderings to meet design intent
- Interpret blueprints, renderings, and field direction to execute artistic scope accurately
- Sculpt, carve, weld, cut, grind, sand, spray, brush, and mix materials using a variety of tools
- Build and refine forms, molds, parts, and structural components for durability and accuracy
- Complete work from surface preparation through final detailing
- Collaborate with designers, superintendents, engineers, and field teams
- Track progress and communicate clearly through written and verbal updates
- Operate equipment such as scissor lifts and boom lifts
- Mentor and support less experienced artists as needed
- Work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements
What You Bring
Education & Knowledge
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: Experience with fiberglass, steel, concrete, carpentry, and artistic fabrication
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- OSHA-10 certification before hire date
Experience
- 1-3 years in a related role (combined education and experience considered)
- Hands-on experience with hand tools and artistic materials
- Preferred: Forklift and light equipment operation experience

- Strong sculpting, painting, and fabrication skills
- Solid communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Critical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
Regular lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, kneeling, and balancing
Must lift up to:
70 lbs (floor to waist)
90 lbs (waist to chest)
25 lbs (chest to overhead)
Must pass a respirator medical evaluation
Exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate-to-loud noise
Overtime may be required based on project deadlines
