- 7:30 AM3:00 PM
- Interpret classroom instruction, activities, and discussions between ASL and spoken English.
- Provide interpretation during classes, meetings, conferences, assemblies, and school events.
- Facilitate effective communication among students, teachers, peers, and staff.
- Review lesson plans and materials to ensure accurate interpretation.
- Adapt interpreting techniques to students communication needs and abilities.
- Support IEP implementation and participate in IEP meetings.
- Support students academic, vocabulary, social, and communication development.
- Accurately convey message content, tone, and intent while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with teachers and special education teams to promote student progress and an inclusive learning environment.
- Associates degree or completion of a sign language interpreter training program
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English
- Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA score ~3.23.5 or higher)
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing (preferred)
- Bachelors degree
- National certification (RID Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf)
- Prior experience in a school or educational setting
- Knowledge of deaf culture and language development
- Strong receptive and expressive ASL interpreting skills
- Ability to interpret accurately in real time
- Knowledge of educational terminology and curriculum
- Collaboration and communication skills
- Adaptability to different student learning styles
