Job Description

The primary role is to work with scholars, parents, and teachers to help Leman scholars

achieve academic and behavioral success. They serve Leman scholars from all grade levels

who require universal, targeted, and intensive intervention across special education and

general education populations. He/she should demonstrate knowledge, skills, and

commitment needed to provide direct and indirect services that help scholars succeed

academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. He/she will demonstrate

understanding and empathy necessary for working with scholars, their families, and

community resources.

Minimum Requirements, Education, and Experience

  • Master's Degree
  • CBI/ FBI Fingerprint Clearance / Background and Criminal History Clearance
  • Colorado certification as a School Psychologist
  • Must be knowledgeable in cognitive, behavioral, and academic testing and related

skills

  • Working knowledge of the principles, practices, and ethical standards of School

Psychology; the relevant state and federal laws, rules and regulations; and applicable

district policies.

  • First Aid and CPR Certification

Essential Functions:

  • Meeting Mental Health IEP minutes for scholars in grades K-8
  • Provide teachers with consultation on scholar academic and behavior concerns
  • Scholar Study Team (SST) Shepherd
  • Write behavior plans for scholars
  • Identify scholars' pro-social needs then plan and lead intervention groups
  • Provide grief support
  • Partner to train and equip teachers with bullying-prevention curriculum and

behavior plans

  • Works with parents to facilitate support for their scholar's school adjustment
  • Alleviating family stress to enable the scholar to function more effectively in school

& community

  • Participate on the Bullying and Safety Committee or Data and UIP committee
  • Serve as point person for any climate and culture surveys the school conducts
  • Conduct informal assessments to support scholars in both the general education

population and in our Exceptional Scholars Program

  • Conduct suicide, self-harm, and threat assessments, following current DCSD

trainings

  • Effectively implement crisis prevention, intervention, response and recovery efforts
  • Partners with all stakeholders to alleviate barriers to learning, engage scholars as

individuals with unique interests and strengths, and promote scholar success at the

scholars individual developmental level

  • Provide wrap-around resources for families to support needs that surpass the scope

of what the school can provide as needed

  • Attend data team meetings, IEP meetings, and meetings of School Psychologist
  • Share other duties and coverage with the Social Worker and ESS team members
  • Assist in developing and implementing educational programs for scholar for

exceptional children

  • Developing alternative programs for at-risk scholars
  • Identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect
  • Providing case management for scholars and families requiring multiple resources
  • Integrates assessment data into concise, organized, and educationally relevant

evaluations
